Hatter Madigan

Hatter Madigan is a lead character in the main Looking Glass Wars novel, and the titular character of the spin-off Hatter M. graphic novels. Immensely popular with fans, Hatter is a stoic anti-hero with a heart of gold. His amazing combat skills make him the ranking High Cut of the Millinery.

Appearance

A twelfth generation Milliner, Hatter is physically athletic, with dark hair and eyes. He typically wears standard Milliner garb, including his weaponry backpack, long coat, and most importantly his deadly Hat.

Fighting Style

Hatter Madigan is a classically trained Milliner, and attended the Millinery Academy from early youth. He trained in the martial ways of the Hat, as well as many imaginative modes of extreme combat.

Blades

Though most well-known and lauded for the use of their hats, the Millinery has a great number of weapons at their disposal and a conscious member of the Millinery always keeps a good number of these weapons on their person. One such weapon can be concealed within a belt buckle and when a button on the buckle is pressed a series of curved j-shaped saber blades flick open along the surface of the belt.

Also known to be something of a trademark of Millinery forces is the backpack which seems to generate a never ending supply of blades of all different shapes and sizes. The majority of weaponry used by the Millinery were created through alchemy, though Thread Magic from Caterpillar Silk manipulation is often employed.

History

Early Life

Hatter was orphaned at a young age. His parents were renown Milliners of high pedigree, until they mysteriously disappeared on a mission. After their deaths were presumed in the line of action, Hatter and his older brother Dalton were taken as wards of the Millinery.

Hatter felt invisible compared to his brother while they grew up. The Cook was the only person that cared for Hatter during this time.

During The Rule Of Queen Genevieve

He would give his life to protect the queen (or, later, his daughter) if necessary. When Queen Genevieve asked Hatter to protect a 7-year old Alyss, they jumped into the Pool of Tears. He was separated from her and searched Earth to find her for 13 years, becoming a legend, and did not find her until they were both in Wonderland. He is an excellent fighter and takes his job very seriously. He destroyed WILMA and helped defeat Redd and bring peace to the queendom.

• Hatter's brother, Dalton, rescued both Rose (Redd) and Geneieve Heart from the Diamond's estate.
• Hatter created a tarot deck of cards, while in a mental hospital, which revealed the truth about Wonderland.
